1In which way will Château Frontenac be renovated?
Several areas will be expanded and renovated. More specifically:
- the refurbishment of 618 hotel rooms ;
- transformation of the main lobby;
- construction of a new floor of Fairmont Gold rooms (increasing the number from 47 to 62 rooms);
- expansion of the Fairmont Gold Lounge;
- addition of a luxury spa and renovation and expansion of the health club;
- substantial increase in meeting space and integration of the latest technology in telecommunications;
- showcasing of artefacts from the Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux, as well as creations by Quebec artists, and their integration into the hotel’s décor; and
- the continuation of masonry and roof replacement work.
2Will the contemporary style of the Château Frontenac overshadow its architectural heritage?
- No. Ivanhoé Cambridge and Fairmont Le Château Frontenac intend to hire architects and professionals in interior design who are able to seamlessly combine historical and modern elements within the hotel. Also, decisions on this matter will be made by a committee of internal and external experts.
3Will the Château be closed during the renovation period?
- No. Only the sections undergoing renovation will be temporarily unavailable to the public. Work on each section will be coordinated to be carried out in such a way as to reduce to a minimum any inconvenience.
